Prepping for turkey day takes a lot, we understand that your time is divided between the epic struggle of dinner rolls vs crescent rolls (by the way, crescents for the win, no doubt).

While many have been planning the biggest eating day of the year or laying out their plan of attack for the department stores the morning after, our programmers and testers have been hard at work creating the latest and greatest release of Access ACS.

We have made sweeping changes to our group e-mail process, and added Twitter and Facebook functionality. So, not only can you send a group e-mail out about how great your sweet potato casserole came out, you can also tweet it and post pictures of it to Facebook. So in short. . .

Turkey lurkey doo and turkey lurkey what, we have a new release of Access ACS coming out!

Highlights

This month we are unveiling our new and (hopefully, you think so too) improved group e-mail pages.

Send a Message

The first big thing we did was change the wording for the Group E-mail option to Send a Message. We hope this clears up any confusion or uncertainty surrounding the process.

Before, you had to select from four delivery options before you made it to the e-mail composition page. We removed this step completely, and you are now taken immediately to the Send a Message page.

On the Send a Message page, the total number of people you selected who have e-mail addresses displays near the top of the page.

Click People with e-mail addresses to view the list of individuals with e-mail addresses.

We updated the Edit toolbar. This not only provides more editing functionality, but also improves the visual aesthetics of the page.

The option to send your message to the parents of any children selected now displays beneath the message text box.

Don't want to use our messaging system? No problem. Click Use E-mail Client, select who you want to send a message to, then click Open E-mail Client. The default e-mail client opens, and you can compose and send the message as you would any other e-mail.

Not all the people you select will have e-mail addresses, and depending on which messaging process you opted to use, the list of these individuals displays in two different places.

  • If you selected to use our messaging system, after you successfully send the message, you are taken to the Message Results page. The bottom half of this page contains the list of individuals who could not be e-mailed.
  • If you selected to use the default e-mail client, this list displays on the same page where you decide who to send the message to.

From either page, you can e-mail yourself the list of people or print mailing labels.

Twitter and Facebook

That's right. In addition to all of the other amazing improvements I listed above, you can now post to Twitter or Facebook!

Enhancements

The following enhancements are included in this release of Access ACS.

Meeting Times

On the Meeting Times page, we updated the Continue button to read Save and Continue.

Profile Tab

Updated the Family, Picture, and Family Picture buttons to read Family Info, Personal Photo, and Family Photo. This should alleviate any confusion or inconsistency that may have occurred with the old wording.

Calendar - Facility Scheduler

Have you needed a way to quickly add events from Access ACS to your personal calendar? Want it to be short and sweet? Access ACS presents you with this, one simple icon to click and send an event iCal to your personal calendar. This icon will only display for confirmed events.

Events

Event Contact Coordinators can now register individuals and accept payments offline for online-payment-only events through the Event Registration Expert. This allows more flexibility for organizations that have individuals who prefer to makes payments in person or through the mail as opposed to online.

Uploads

Added an EST time stamp to the Scheduled Upload Log.

Outreach Connections

With this release, an Outreach Connection notification is sent for any connection within the upcoming seven days. The connection is sent out when an upload is made to Access ACS and Change Requests for an Outreach Connection are applied. Once an Outreach Connection has been sent, it will be marked so it is not sent out multiple times.

Available Event Registrations

On the My Overview page, in the I Want to View section and the My Registrations section, we changed the Available Event Registrations wording to read Available Registrations. Members did not know they could use the Available Event Registrations link to register for classes.

Looks great.    Wish you were also adding the Goes to name to the Event Registration......... I know this is on your to do list   Parent and children often have the same Last and First name some without "Goes by name" it gets very confusiing.  Parents are confused when their name is registered instead of their child.

For number 4, it is not the Event Contact Coordinator that is given this option, it is anyone with a Staff Profile.
