The most common way to use an image is to add it to an article. An announcement about an Independence Day picnic would look great with a photo of fireworks, or with images from last year's event.

You can insert as many images as you need into an article.

 To add an image to an article
  1. Point to Site, then click Article Manager.
  2. Double-click the article in the list.
  3. In the article body, click where you want to insert the image.
  4. Click .
  5. The Image Properties dialog box displays.
  6. Click Media Manager, select and Submit the image if you've already uploaded it. If not, click Upload Image and navigate to the image file.
  7. In the Image Properties dialog box, click OK.
  8. Click the last button on the top button row to minimize the editor.
  9. If you are a site administrator or network administrator, click Save & Approve. Otherwise, click Save.
  10. If the Approve tab displays, approve the article for the roles that you are assigned. For more information, see Understanding the Extend Workflow Process.
 To delete an image from an article
  1. Point to Site, then click Article Manager.
  2. Double-click the article in the list.
  3. In the article body, click the image you want to delete.
  4. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  5. Click the last button on the top button row to minimize the editor.
  6. If you are a site administrator or network administrator, click Save & Approve. Otherwise, click Save.
  7. If the Approve tab displays, approve the article for the roles that you are assigned. For more information, see Understanding the Extend Workflow Process.

    $$ Saver

    After you delete an image from an article, it remains in Extend, ready to be used again. So if you know you won't use the image again, you should also delete it from the Media Manager.

What image formats can be used?

The following image types can be uploaded to the Media Manager and included in articles:
