PDS Formation Office 9.0C, released for OnDemand 3-26-19 and for desktop 4-3-19, offers the following enhancements.

Improved Features

Simple Discounts for Families or Students

When you create an online registration form, now you can give discounts per family or per student. For details, see Register Families and Enroll Students Online.

 Show me examples

To give discounts based on the same rates you set up by grade, age, class, or student, select Multiple Rate Discounts. In this example, we set up rates by grades 1-5 and 6-12 in the previous window, so we can set up discounts for each grade here.

Families who register a child in grades 1-5 before the deadline can get $10 off the first student, and $5 off the second, third, and any other children they register. Families who register a child in grades 6-12 can get $15 off the first student, $10 off the second child, and $5 off any other children.

So, a family who registers one 2nd grader and one 8th grader will receive $25 off their registration. A family who registers a 2nd grader and two 8th graders will receive $35 off.

To give discounts for a family's total registration, select Single Rate Discount Per Family. In this example, we set up the same rate for students in the previous window, so we can set up a "per family" discount here.

Families who register before the deadline can get $10 off of their total registration, no matter how many students they register.

To give discounts for each student's registration, select Single Rate Discount Per Student. In this example, we set up the same rate for students in the previous window, so we can set up a "per student" discount here.

Families who register before the deadline can get $5 off each student they register. If they register one student, they get $5 off. If they register six students, they get $30 off.

Report Access Options

We heard that some folks were confused about the report access options (shared, public, and private). To help, we reordered the drop-down list so the options display from the least to greatest level of privacy:

  • Public - all users can view, run, and edit the report.
  • Shared - all users can run the report, but only the report owner can edit it.
  • Private - only the report owner can run and edit the report.

Also, when you hover over the drop-down list, descriptions now display for the options.

Useful Information

Remember that report access options only display if you've set up users and a security method in PDS.

For more information, see Designate Access to Reports and Selections.

Sponsors in Sacramental Registers

We changed the way linked sponsors work in sacramental registers. Now, if a sponsor is linked to a member, any information you change on one record is automatically updated on the other.

So, if the sponsor record in the register is changed, the member record is updated. If the member record is changed, the sponsor record is updated.

Print Middle Initials

Many name formats remove the middle initial if it's entered as part of the first name, for example "Mary T.". However, we heard that some churches use the middle initial to identify folks with the same or similar names. So, we added an option to always print the middle initial if it's entered in the first name field.

In the Initial Setup window, on the Student & Family Options tab, select Include Middle Initials in Family and Member First Names.

Details on Count Totals

Reports with count totals now include a Details section to explain the breakdown of totals. For example, the Family and Member Count report shows the number of families and members who are active, inactive, deceased, and how many have left the parish.

Abundant Updates

We improved some wording and post dates in Abundant to better match bank statements. Now, it posts the date of the actual gift rather than the deposit date. In the eGiving process, you'll see "Gift Date".

We also added an activity to the fund setup template. When setting up a fund, you can select the activity Help Offset the Processing Fees. When donors give, they can select whether to offset the processing costs. If they select to, the money is placed in that fund behind the scenes.

Corrections

We fixed the following issues that affected some of our clients.

  • When processing eGiving, if you had set up your Vanco data and fund periods for the new calendar year (2019) but you had not added the new fund periods to families, the Vanco - Classic Import was posting the 2019 entries to the previous fund period (2018) instead of adding the new fund period.
  • We corrected issues with the fund list order. PDS now detects if you reordered your fund list, and it adds new funds to the top and removes funds that users don't have access to.
  • Sometimes, the family title wasn't being set correctly depending on your preferred family title option.
  • When importing email addresses from Vanco in eGiving, emails were sometimes associated with the wrong family.
