School attendance is taken once a day and can be used to count the number of hot lunches needed.
If you use the Check In/Check Out feature available in HeadMaster Pro, you should not use the School Attendance Assistant to record school attendance. Instead, refer to Manage Check In and Check Out Procedures.
Students don't have to be assigned to a homeroom teacher in order to record school attendance, but they won't display if you use a homeroom teacher filter. Additionally, if you use HeadMaster Pro, you also need to set dates for grading periods. For more information, see Set Dates for Grading Periods.
The Student Profiles report lists each student’s homeroom teacher.
Prior to posting school attendance, complete the following tasks:
- Set up Reason Codes. Reason Codes are brief explanations for why a student is tardy or absent, such as Sick, Funeral, Doctor, Dentist, or Traffic. For more information, see Define Custom Reason Codes for Absences and Tardies.
- Set up Grade Levels. See Manage Grade Levels.
- Add students and assign homeroom teachers. See Add a New Student or Change a Student’s Homeroom Teacher.
- If you use HeadMaster Pro, set up grading periods. See Set Dates for Grading Periods.
