You can connect to the HeadMaster database when you log into the program for the first time at each workstation.

But first, you must connect to the HeadMaster database directory.

 To connect to the HeadMaster database
  1. Open HeadMaster. The Database Connect dialog box displays.
  2. Under Connection Type, select Connect to database directory.
  3. Click Browse, and navigate to the HMaster directory on your server.
  4. Select the Data directory.
  5. Click OK.

Connecting to the Remote Server

To connect using Remote Server, the remote server must be running. Typically, the server starts and runs automatically. However, you can start the remote server manually if necessary and connect each workstation to the HeadMaster database.

To start the remote server manually, open HeadMaster and click HeadMaster Server. An icon displays in the system tray.

 To connect each workstation to the HeadMaster database using remote server
  1. Open HeadMaster. The Database Connect dialog box displays.
  2. Under Connection Type, select Connect to remote server.
  3. In the Host field, enter the name or IP address of the computer on which the database is installed. This is typically the name of the server.
  4. Click OK.

 

After connecting to the HeadMaster database, you're ready to log in to HeadMaster for the first time.
